Awareness-raising and Information Programmes Print E-mail

Giving out information and raising public awareness has always been a priority for the Society for the Protection of Prespa since its earliest days. With this in mind, in 1992 the SPP established the first Information Centre that had ever operated in a Greek national park. The aim of the centre was to promote the rare natural and cultural values of the region to the wider public as well as the citizens of Prespa, an idea that wasn’t so widespread at the time. The centre operated for 20 years and in that time received more than 132,000 visitors, most of which were school students from all over Greece. Having established a further three information centres in the region with the Prespa National Park Management Body, and having seen the original SPP centre fulfil many of its aims, the SPP decided to close the centre in January 2012 and develops a new approach to awareness-raising in the region.

More information will be soon available.
